August 27, 2010: Paige Worthy Simply Is

Paige Worthy is a twenty-something free-lance writer who describes herself as an American girl raised on promises. And while promises can be a rather high octane snack, Paige seems to have the energy to manage them. And her words have energy. She blogs brilliantly at paigeworthy.com.

Currently Paige is in transition–major life transition—involving changes of her choosing and some decidedly less so. But Kay and Paige won’t talk about that. A conversation about major life transition in a twenty-something life might be compelling—fascinating actually. But true to the nature of this annoying show, they have decided to talk about supermarkets and grocery buying and grocery eating instead. And Paige has promised to share her very unpopular recipe for Laptop Scrambled Eggs.

We’ll have a musical interlude by a Women Are Not Funny favorite, British guitarist Matt Stevens.

A fun conversation that matters! (Begins after 1:20 of totally dead air. Kay is a tech genius who can’t edit audio.)

I mean, technically, Tom Petty described me as an American girl raised on promises.
But I’ll happily take credit. It’s a great lyric.

Can’t wait to talk about groceries. I have some capers. Capers experienced while buying capers?

[...] Click here to read some really nice things Kay said about me, and come back at 3 p.m. Central time to hear my angelic voice talk about really stupid things: I hear grocery shopping is the topic. You can’t make these things up. [...]

Jwillie, thanks for the timely warning! Even though I have been described as having bone-crushing self-confidence, I am not unaware of the threat such talent can pose–even to someone as adorable and modest as me.

I am already of the custom of asking each of my featured guests, at the very beginning of the show, whether they view their guest appearance as an opportunity to take over my show. Be assured that I will listen very carefully to Paige’s answer.

Paige, Darling, what I should have said is that you have the express permission of Tom Petty to describe yourself thus and if that is not entirely true, it should be.

[...] Well, listen to the webcast of the radio show if you’d like, if you didn’t get to do it yesterday. It’s here. [...]

Not to mention, that there are certain dresses like the evening gowns that can only be worn with such footwear. In a situation like that, not being able to wear heels is a pity.
