July 2, 2010: The Woman with Too Many Names!

How many names does one woman need?  Apparently there is no end to the number that Shannon Glass claims!  Shannon is also known as @akamonty on Twitter.  But the name that prompted her invitation to be a featured guest on this show is the somewhat predictive name that Kay Ballard so admires:  Girl, Inappropriate.

Here’s what we think we know about Shannon:  She is a 41-year young, single mother of twins who has the audacity to live in Oklahoma.  She likes to have fun even though they don’t really do that in Oklahoma. No worries because Shannon refuses to take life too seriously.  And, like Kay, she has a Friday radio show.  But Shannon’s radio show, Friday Night Live, is all Show Tunes and Hair Bands and Marching Bands.  Join us for fun, aka madcappery.

June 25, 2010: Martha Giffen is a Twitter Diva

Fresh from her first experience at hosting a webinar, social networking diva Martha Giffen returns to Women Are Not Funny, to talk about what she taught and what she learned, and, well, to be funny. And she has proven that she is. So funny, in fact that she inspired Kay Ballard’s paranoid standard introductory questions to guests on the show.

Kay just celebrated her second year anniversary on Twitter, but she bows to Martha’s superior Twitter expertise. Of course, both women being blonde Southern women who went to law school, they think they know everything about anything. And they certainly think they know everything about Twitter. And that is what they will talk about on this edition of Women Are Not Funny Radio.

June 18, 2010: A Jump Now Philosophy!

Leadership is having and advancing a point of view and Carol Pierce is definitely a leader! As you might expect from someone who would name one of her books Jump Now, Look later, she is an advocate of a bold approach to seeking and achieving success!  Women Are Not Funny Radio needs an energy transfusion and Carol, a proud Louisiana Cajun, is ready to bring it!

Carol and Kay could talk about all sorts of things—and they will. There’s likely to be no stopping them.  But in addition to talking about all sorts of things, they have agreed to talk about one specific matter that many women find particularly burdensome.  They will talk about money and why so many women have a difficult time negotiating the substantial salaries or handsome professional fees they deserve to be paid.  Or asking enough for the goods and services they create or provide. Wow!  This is amazing!  In stark contrast to the conventional daffy and daft Women Are Not Funny Radio approach, Carol and Kay actually plan to offer their listeners some true insight and guidance! Tune in for some lively straight talk and possibly a laugh or two.

June 11, 2010: Freshman Report: A Funny Former Freshman Reveals All!

For Women Are Not Funny this is truly a realized dream! A fun conversation with a newly minted former university Freshman! An actual expert at being a Freshman. Even though quite recently she happily and forever left the designation far behind!

Addie Benge has just completed her first year at University of Rhode Island. Chances are she learned a lot—and by that we are referring to things that are a bit juicier than Western Civilization and English Composition. The only real question is whether she will be willing to tolerate and even answer Kay Ballard’s annoying, prying, assumptive questions.

Addie is an exuberant young woman with fashion expertise and the ability to laugh at herself and poke fun at others. She is also generous, and given that, through her revelations, will take us back–or ahead–to a time in our lives, when everything and nothing is possible. Because we are Freshmen.

June 4, 2010: Who Wouldn’t Choose Easy World?

Julia Rogers Hamrick leads a charmed life. We are convinced of it! Not only has she identified a place called Easy World, she manages to live there much of the time. Graciously she invites the rest of us to join her there as well. Her appearance as featured guest on Women Are Not Funny Radio is in advance of the August 3 release of her highly anticipated book, Choosing Easy World: A Guide to Opting Out of Struggle and Strife and Living in the Amazing Realm Where Everything is Easy. It is available for pre-order now!

In true Easy World fashion, Julia plans to leverage the social web to build an audience for her book. Kay, whose specialty and talent is being both adorable and annoying, has a million proverbial, proven, or recklessly speculative book promotion ideas. However many of Kay’s ideas are firmly rooted in Difficult World. Will Julia pander to her by pretending to listen? Unlikely. Yet perhaps she would truly value lessons from Kay in the fine art of Book Interview Pandering, a somewhat useful skill for authors who aspire to achieving best selling author status.

As a special treat for Julia, we’ll hear the instrumental “Burning Bandstands” by fabulous Matt Stevens, a popular and highly gifted guitarist and composer from London.
