May 28, 2010: A Sister Act In the No Lunge Zone

It had to happen and it looks like it has. Since this is Fitness Month on Women Are Not Funny Radio, it was a certainty that New Jersey fitness trainer Holly Benge would be an invited featured guest. After all, she carries the rare distinction of being Kay Ballard’s sister. Since Kay has no ability to, nor intention of referring to herself as “older” ever, now or in the future, the most she will admit to is being her parents’ Starter Child.

Holly is a good sport as well as being rather sporty, but perhaps there is a reasonable limitation to how much silliness she will permit herself to be party to. Hmm. That sounds like an assumption that is screaming to be challenged. Because Holly is the real deal—a highly credentialed fitness pro, who unlike her far more adorable sister, prefers to be rather invisible on the internet. Will Holly’s fitness advice to Kay be hardcore or sisterly? Empathic or judgmental? Scornful? Nagging? Practical? More importantly, will it be funny?

May 21, 2010: Caroline Radway is the Belle of the Kettlebelle!

British fitness expert Caroline Radway invented the kettlebell.  Not really. But Caroline cleverly gave the cast iron torture device a name with a feminine twist and created a hard driving, best selling exercise and nutrition program called KettlebelleBody in its honor.

Caroline is a well-known exercise authority in her homeland and has earned every sort of professional credential and certification. In addition to running a successful online business, she conducts one-off fitness workshops, Outdoor Fitness Boot Camps, and is personal trainer for a number of individual clients in South Hampton.  She brings a stint as a commissioned officer in the British army, a brief period as a fatty, and a fabulous sense of humor to those tasks.  She is a champion windsurfer, a surfer, a mountain biker, and a snowboarder.  In other words, she is the Polar opposite of Kay Ballard.

Kay has owned two adorable kiwi and black ten-pound kettlebells for over a year.  She believes they exist to mock her.  Actually, it is worse than that. They scare the hell out of her.  Join us on Friday to find out whether Caroline can help her come to an uneasy peace with her kettlebells for once and for all.

May 14, 2010: A Screen Actors Guild Member with a Passion for Tone

Helen Clark is a fascinating woman who took a roundabout route into a profession in the field of fitness!  Born in Great Britain, Helen trained extensively in the lively arts which permitted her to enjoy a successful and demanding career as an actress in the states.  But despite her love of the stage, through her ongoing pursuit of personal fitness, she made an important discovery about herself.  As she says, she found that she was more passionate about muscle tone than voice tone.  So Helen became a personal trainer with clients all over the Northern New Jersey region.

Helen is so devoted to her clients that she actually makes house calls.  And she inspires her clients with her no-nonsense, practical approach to personal fitness and her no holds barred sense of humor.  Kay Ballard hopes to learn from Helen, and teach her a few things as well–like how to further expand her expanding training practice all the way to the halls of Congress.

May 7, 2010: Rebecca Needs to Get a Room

Rebecca Regnier is an Emmy Award winning newscaster and a fabulous friend of Women Are Not Funny Radio.  She is also the perfect guest for the kick-off of Fitness month!   Rebecca blogs brilliantly and hilariously at Does This Blog Make Us Look Fat? There, she recently admitted to bringing Insanity into her own valiant ongoing quest for personal fitness.  However, at this very moment, the thing that has her most insane is an important fitness related fundraising  project named “Get a Room“–a weight training room– for the athletic program at her local high school!

Rebecca is America’s foremost diet humorist and she is constantly making us laugh by reminding us about her sad but optimistic theory that we are always “only twenty pounds away from being Smokin’ Hot!”

As you know, Kay Ballard has long been a proponent of insanity, but will Rebecca persuade her to adopt Insanity?   Listen in to this thirty minute episode of Women Are Not Funny Radio to find out!

Here is the link to vote for the Bedford Mules in the Pepsi Refresh Campaign!
